Bollon - Brisbane bound

During 2010, Bollon State School embarked on a whole-school camp to Brisbane. This was a wonderful adventure for all of our students to visit the “Big Smoke” and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city for a week.

We were very fortunate to be able to have use of the PCAP bus to drive to and get around Brisbane, although we very much enjoyed using public transport in Brisbane, especially the CityCat. On our first day in Brisbane we also got to visit the Science Centre and walk through the city admiring all the shops that we don’t have in Bollon.

The next day we went for a surfing lesson, which was tremendous fun and quite successful for most. After a beachside morning tea we headed for Dreamworld. For many students (and adults), this was the highlight of the trip. The rides were super fun, the tigers were also a highlight. We discovered there were a few daredevils among us, willing to take on Dreamworld’s fastest and scariest rides.

On our 4th day, we visited Briz 31 station and learnt how television is made and produced. Following this, we enjoyed a journey into outer space at the Planetarium, before enjoying 10-pin bowling.

On Friday, we drove all the way back to Bollon to be greeted by the parents. Although we had a fantastic time, it sure was nice to be back to Bollon to enjoy the peace and quiet and the wide open spaces.
