Why choose our school?

Bollon State School opened its doors on July 27 1885. In those days, the school was a small bark hut with a dirt floor. The first principal was Miss Louisa Cameron. Of course much has changed at Bollon in the 125 year history of our great little school.

Today, Bollon is a small, one-teacher school providing education to the children of Bollon and the surrounding area. We are very proud of being able to provide a high quality education to our students. The students are fortunate to have beautiful grounds in which to spend their lunch breaks playing. Staffing at Bollon currently consists of: the teaching principal, three teacher aides, an administration officer, a groundsperson and cleaner, all are committed to providing excellent learning experiences for our students.

Bollon is a very tight knit community, which is heavily involved in the holistic education of Bollon State School students. From parent and volunteer helpers to local business, industry and council, each are involved in preparing our students for their futures. It is a wonderful community that is reflected in the super bunch of students we have, students who take immense pride in their school.

Bollon is located 114 kilometres west of St George in South-West Queensland. The township is nestled against the beautiful Wallam Creek. A visit to Bollon is definitely worthwhile. Otherwise, please enjoy perusing our website.
